Rajouri, August 18: A tragic incident unfolded in village Karian Dassal, located in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, where a young boy is feared to have drowned in a nearby river.
The incident occurred earlier today, sparking concern and sorrow throughout the local community.
According to eyewitnesses, the boy had gone near the river for a routine activity when he accidentally slipped and was swept away by the strong current. His identity has not yet been officially disclosed by the authorities.
Immediately after the incident, local residents alerted the authorities. A joint rescue operation was swiftly launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in coordination with local volunteers. Teams are currently on the ground, conducting a rigorous search to trace the missing boy.
Rescue efforts have been intensified, with the deployment of ropes, boats, and skilled divers. However, strong water currents and the rocky terrain are making the operation difficult.
A police official overseeing the operation stated, “We are doing everything we can to locate the boy. We appeal to the public to stay away from the riverbanks during this time for their own safety.”
The villagers of Karian Dassal have come out in large numbers, offering help and moral support to the family and rescue teams. The emotional atmosphere reflects the deep bond shared within the close-knit community.
