Srinagar, December 18:In view of the forecast of heavy rainfall and snowfall across several parts of Kashmir, the Traffic Police Rural Kashmir has issued a comprehensive advisory urging commuters to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in vulnerable and high-altitude areas.
According to officials, adverse weather conditions may lead to slippery roads, reduced visibility, landslides, and traffic disruptions on key routes.
Motorists have been advised to remain updated about road conditions before starting their journey and strictly follow traffic advisories issued from time to time.
The Traffic Police have particularly cautioned drivers travelling on hilly and mountainous roads to ensure that their vehicles are in proper condition, including functional brakes, lights, and tyres. Use of snow chains has been advised where required, while over-speeding and rash driving have been strongly discouraged.
Commuters are also urged to cooperate with traffic personnel deployed on the roads and to avoid parking vehicles at unsafe locations that could obstruct smooth movement or emergency operations.Meanwhile, authorities have assured that traffic personnel will remain on high alert and coordinate closely with other departments to ensure public safety and timely clearance of roads in case of any disruption.The public has been requested to contact Traffic Police helplines or official social media platforms for real-time updates and assistance during the inclement weather.
