According to the official forecast, light to moderate rain and snow is likely in most parts of the valley during the night of December 31 to January 1.
Higher and extreme upper reaches of north and central Kashmir are expected to receive moderate to heavy snowfall, potentially leading to travel disruptions in mountainous zones.
Meteorologists note that the ongoing weather system will bring generally cloudy conditions through the first week of January, with isolated light rain or snow over select areas.
Temperatures are expected to remain low, reinforcing typical winter chill across the region.
