A local book seller has adopted a unique approach by offering books for sale not by the conventional unit of measure, but rather by the kilogram.

Nestled amidst the vibrant streets of Srinagar, this unconventional bookstore is turning heads and intriguing bibliophiles with its innovative pricing strategy.

Traditionally, books are priced individually based on their authors, genres, and other factors. However, the owner of this establishment has taken a bold step by introducing a kilo-wise book buying experience.Visitors to the bookstore are welcomed by shelves lined with a diverse selection of books, ranging from classics to contemporary literature, non-fiction to poetry. The pricing model, though, is what sets this bookstore apart.

Customers are encouraged to fill their baskets with books of their choice, and at the counter, the total cost is calculated based on the weight of the books. This novel approach to book selling has garnered attention for various reasons. For one, it challenges the traditional mindset of assigning value to books solely based on their individual merit. Instead, the emphasis is placed on the overall quantity and weight of the selected books. This system provides an opportunity for readers to explore and experiment with a broader range of titles without the constraint of individual price tags. The kilo-wise pricing model also promotes environmental sustainability.

With concerns growing over excessive paper consumption and its impact on the environment, this unique approach encourages customers to be mindful of the weight of the books they choose.

It subtly promotes the idea of responsible consumption, prompting readers to think twice before accumulating a large number of books. While this unconventional method may raise eyebrows initially, it seems to be resonating well with the local community and visitors alike.

Book enthusiasts appreciate the freedom to explore various genres without the financial burden often associated with buying books individually. The kilo-wise pricing strategy fosters a sense of adventure and discovery, encouraging readers to step out of their literary comfort zones.

The bookstore’s owner has expressed satisfaction with the positive response from customers.

The kilo-wise pricing model has not only boosted sales but has also transformed the bookstore into a unique cultural hub.
