Shopian, Oct 25:A tragic incident has been reported from Narwar village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, where a five-year-old girl lost her life after accidentally falling into a water channel near her home on Saturday.The deceased has been identified as Nazima, daughter of Rayaz Ahmad Khatana, originally hailing from Kalakot and presently residing in Narwar, Shopian.
According to initial reports, the minor girl was playing near the water channel when she suddenly slipped and fell into it. Upon noticing the incident, family members and locals rushed to rescue her and managed to retrieve her from the water.She was immediately taken to District Hospital Shopian, but doctors there pronounced her dead on arrival.
The heartbreaking incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area. Police have taken cognizance of the case and completed all legal formalities.
