Traffic Diversions Announced in Srinagar for International Film Festival InaugurationSrinagar, September 6: Traffic Police Srinagar has issued a traffic advisory in view of the inauguration of the International Film Festival at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) on September 7.According to the advisory, a large number of participants, guests and invitees are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony scheduled for Monday evening, leading to a likely increase in vehicular movement towards SKICC after 4 PM.SSP Traffic Srinagar City, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, said the restrictions have been put in place to ensure smooth traffic movement and minimise inconvenience to the general public.As per the advisory, no general traffic will be allowed on Gupkar Road between 4 PM and 7 PM. Only invitees, participants, VVIPs and staff associated with the film festival will be permitted to use the road during this period.At Badyari Chowk and Brein Chowk, traffic moving towards SKICC–Nehru Park will not be allowed, except for hotel guests and local residents. Other traffic heading towards Nishat will be diverted via Gupkar and Hazratbal.Similarly, vehicles coming from the Nishat and Harwan side will be diverted towards Hazratbal.The traffic restrictions will remain in force from 4 PM to 7 PM on September 7, or until the inauguration ceremony concludes.The International Film Festival will continue for four days. Traffic Police has also indicated that a similar advisory will be issued for the closing ceremony on September 10, scheduled for the evening.Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid the affected routes during the restricted hours.
